# The World of Ashes of Mankind

Ashes of Mankind (AoM) is a vast universe set in a dystopian future, featuring two interconnected experiences: **AoM: Empires** and **AoM: Citadels**.

* **AoM: Empires** is the web3-powered component, focusing on creating, trading, and managing unique technologies, resources, and cosmetics. The actions and strategies you employ in Empires have a direct impact on the **AoM: Citadels** game, influencing the battlefield and the overall experience.
* **AoM: Citadels** is the FPS game where players engage in an innovative PvP and PvE extraction-based MMO. Set within the massive megastructure of the Citadel, players must fight for survival, gather resources, and achieve their objectives in a relentless and dynamic environment.

**Lore overview**

* **The Fall of Unity:** As the world crumbled under economic and societal upheaval, the European Union underwent a radical transformation, leading to the rise of the **Eternal Emperor**. Empowered by the L.I.F.E implant, he established a new world order, creating deep divisions between the immortal elite and the masses.
* **Rise of the Revenants:** Revenants were born from a rebellion against the Emperor. Cloned from the DNA of legendary warriors and enhanced with cutting-edge technology, these soldiers became the last hope for those resisting the Emperor's rule.
* **The Citadel:** The Citadel was originally built as a bastion of human advancement, overseen by the AI **GRIM**. However, after a failed revolt, it became a fortress filled with dangers, where only the strongest Revenants dare to venture.

**Geopolitical Landscape**

* **The Eternal Emperor's Domain:** Under the Eternal Emperor, the European Union transformed into a technocratic dystopia, exerting tight control over both Earth and Ortus.
* **Syndicates and Corporations:** In the shadows of this regime, powerful Syndicates and Corporations emerged. Syndicates, born from rebellion, operate in the shadows, while Corporations control the production of essential resources and technology.

**Key Locations**

* **The Citadel:** A sprawling vertical fortress that serves as the central battleground in **AoM: Citadels**. It is a maze of treacherous corridors, abandoned labs, and fortified zones controlled by GRIM.
* **Ortus:** A rugged planet that offers both opportunity and peril. Its landscapes are dotted with colonies, outposts, and the remnants of past conflicts. Ortus is a battleground where Corporations and Syndicates vie for control, particularly in **AoM: Empires**.
